What is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on treatment and preventative care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints. Chiropractors are primary care practitioners, trained to develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment/management plan, recommend therapeutic exercise and other non-invasive therapies, and provide nutritional, dietary and/or lifestyle counselling.
What is an adjustment?
An adjustment is a highly skilled and precise movement usually applied by hand to a joint of the body. An adjustment restores proper motion and optimizes function of a joint.
Are chiropractic adjustments safe?
Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of headache, and neck and back pain. It has an excellent safety record. Chiropractors receive more than 4,200 hours of specialized clinical training, making them manual therapy experts.
Are there many athletes who use chiropractic?
Yes! Many amateur and professional athletes use chiropractic treatment as part of their overall health care, fitness and maintenance program. Chiropractic is often used to improve muscle and joint conditioning, which has a direct effect on an athletic performance.
Does chiropractic care require a referral from an MD?
No! Chiropractors are legislated as primary contact health professionals in every province in Canada. This means that patients can consult them directly and no prescription is required.
If you are interested in our Registered Massage Therapy services, you may require a prescription from your medical doctor to receive insurance coverage. Check with your insurance plan provider if you are unsure.
Will I have to continue with care for the rest of my life?
No! Our team's goal is to get you better as quickly as possible and teach you preventative exercises so that you can get on with your active lifestyle and stay injury free.
Is treatment covered by insurance?
Most people will have extended health coverage for chiropractic care which will usually reimburse the patient for 80-100% of the cost of each visit. We are pleased to offer direct insurance billing by TELUS Health. If you are interested in this service, please bring your policy card to your visit.
